كانت المحاولة المغولية لغزو اليابان بين عامي 1274م - 1281م أكبر محاولة عسكرية لغزو اليابان من قبل الإمبراطور قوبلاي خان لغرض عسكري، بعد أن نجحوا في احتلال شبه الجزيرة الكورية وعبورهم عبر بحر اليابان. نجح اليابانيون في صد الهجوم، بسبب فقد المغول لـ 75% من قوتهم بفعل أعصار المحيط.

بعد نجاح المغول في احتلال الصين كاملة ثم الاستيلاء على كوريا، قرر المغول غزو اليابان عسكريًا.

أرسل المغول وفدًا إلى حاكم اليابان في فترة ميجي، وفي سنة 1266م أرسلوا رسالة ثانية مع مبعوثين منغوليين إلى اليابان. إلا أن المحاولات الدبلوماسية بين اليابان والمغول باءت بالفشل الذريع.
