Works of Chinese origin that have entered the public domain in the U.S. due to certain circumstances (such as publication in noncompliance with U.S. copyright formalities) may have had their U.S. copyright restored under the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) if the work was under copyright in its country of origin on the date that the URAA took effect in that country. (For the People's Republic of China, the URAA took effect on January 1, 1996. For the Republic of China (ROC), the URAA took effect on January 1, 2002.[1])

تقع هذه الصُّورة الضَّوئِيَّة في النِّطاق العامِّ في اليابان لأَنَّ حقوق تأليفها ونشرها قد نَفِدت حسب المادة 23 مِن مَرسُوم حقوق التَّأليف النَّشر الصَّادِر في اليابان عام 1899م (الترجمة الإنكليزية) والمادة 2 من الأحكام التكميليَّة لمَرسُوم حقوق التَّأليف والنَّشر في اليابان الصَّادِر في 1970م. يسرى هذا على الصُّور التي تحقق بنداً واحداً مما يأتي:
  1. نُشِرت قبل 1 يناير 1957م.
  2. صُوِّرت قبل 1 يناير 1947م.
وهي تقع في النِّطاق العامِّ في الولايات المُتحدة أيضاً لأنَّ حقوق تأليفها ونشرها في اليابان قد نفدت بحلول العام 1970م ولم تُجدد حسب مرسوم اتفاقية جولة الأوروغواي.
