Recent changes

  • VisualEditor will now automatically create a link when you type in or paste an ISBN, PMID, or RFC. [1][2]
  • The link editor in VisualEditor is now a bit wider. It's now the same width as the automatic citation tool. [3]
  • VisualEditor gadget authors can no longer use the backwards-compatibility module ext.visualEditor.viewPageTarget.init. Use ext.visualEditor.desktopArticleTarget.init instead. [4]
  • Gadget writers can now use mediawiki.ForeignApi to communicate between different Wikimedia wikis. [5]

Changes this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from September 1. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from September 2. It will be on all Wikipedias from September 3 (calendar).

Meetings

  • You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs are the most important. The meeting will be on September 1 at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.

Future changes

  • The Wikidata API will be updated with breaking changes. This will probably happen on September 9. [6]

Enlever le modèle de références quand tu as fait moins de je sais pas combien d'édits n'est pas possible. Any way, tu n'as qu'a me dire. J'utilise cet outil pour lier des pages non liées à Wikidata. Moi et mon bot avons lié plusieurs centaines de pages en arabe depuis quelques jours :) Voici d'autres pages:

Il faudrait peut être commencer par rajouter les aticles de la wikiar dans wikidata. J'ai trouvé beaucoup d'Articles qui ont un lien avec la wikien mais pas encore sur wikidata. Est ce que ton bot peut commencer par ça ? --Helmoony (نقاش) 19:10، 6 سبتمبر 2015 (ت ع م)

السبب واضح جدا. بما ان بوتي لم يملك علم في ويكي بيانات قمت بإضافة وصلات اللغة بالشكل القديم وكنت آمل ان تقوم باقي البوتات بنقل الوصلات لويكي بيانات لكن مع الاسف لم يحدث هذا لعدة أشهر والخطأ الذي حدث مني هو عدم الانتباه لهذا الموضوع. فبين الحين والاخر كنت استخرج فائمة المقالات الانحليزية غيرالموجودة في العربية. بما ان وصلات اللغات لم يتم نقلها لويكي بيانات فكانت المقالات تتكرر في كل استعلام اسخرجه من قاعدة البيانات. فالخلاصة للشرح هي عدم وجود بوتات تنقل وصلات اللغات هو الذي سبب هذه المشكلة.--عباس 21:19، 10 سبتمبر 2015 (ت ع م)[ردّ]

Wikipedians as refugees

Hi, many people from Syria or from Iraq are leaving or have left their countries. In Germany alone we host many thousand refugees from arab speaking countries. I was asking myself if there are any wikipedians among them we could get contact to, maybe even help somebody to keep on editing. Hi @Superbass:. Fortunately none of our editors has left Syria.May be because Arabic Wikipedia is censored in Syria so there isn't an active community there (see ths article [7]). Recent changes

  • You can now mention up to 50 users in a post and they will get a notification. Previously you could notify up to 20 users. [8]
  • A new version of the Wikidata Toolkit has been released. It now has Wikibase API support. [9]
  • You can now use Wikidata to find all good or featured articles in a Wikipedia version. [10]

Problems

  • There was a problem with Tool Labs due to kernel issues. This has been fixed. [11]
  • The Content Translation tool published some pages with the same reference repeated several times. This has been fixed. [12][13]

Changes this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from September 8. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from September 9. It will be on all Wikipedias from September 10 (calendar).
  • The maximum character length when you search for something on the Wikimedia wikis is now 300 characters. [14]
  • The notifications list has been split into two lists. As a first step, notifications about messages on your user talk page will be placed in the second list. Feedback is requested at the Echo talk page. [15][16]

  • Wikidata will soon be able to store measurements, such as a mountain's height or the distance between two places. [18][19]

GoogleTrans gadget needs an upgrade

wiki 1.26 requires a change to MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition to support gadgets. The enwiki version, which is working fine, has this entry in the above file for GoogleTrans:

GoogleTrans[ResourceLoader]|GoogleTrans.js (That bullet mark above is actually an asterick)


You will also have to upgrade the gadget code, since some javascript calls contained within your javascript code for GoogleTrans are no longer allowed in mediawiki.

The best way to upgrade the gadget is to replace the gadget file code with the single following line:

mw.loader.load('//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Endo999/GoogleTrans.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); If you do this you won't have to upgrade the gadget code in the future. It will always pull in the latest version from the enwiki.

Recent changes

  • You can now use the Wikidata query service. [20]
  • Belarusian-Taraškievica Wikipedia was moved from be-x-old.wikipedia.org to be-tarask.wikipedia.org. This caused some issues, but most of them were resolved. [21]
  • Language preferences might not be changed immediately when you adjust them. Language selection might work slower. Please report any problems. [22][23]

Problems

  • There was a problem when editing International Standard Book Numbers in Visual Editor. This has now been fixed. [24]
  • The Wikimedia mailing lists should have been upgraded on September 9. It didn't work as planned and will now happen later. [25]
