Archival records demonstrate thatthe Bank maintained a wartime account relationship with senior SSofficer and convicted war criminal Leo Volk, who used the account tohold hundreds of thousands of Swiss francs (approximately 4.6 millionSwiss francs adjusted for the passage of time). Volk held the account onbehalf of Deutsche Wirtschaftsbetriebe ("DWB"), the economic arm ofthe SS. The investigation also uncovered public records that describe aseparate Credit Suisse account that was held in the name of a blacklistedSwiss company that was used by the SS to facilitate the transfer of thesefunds.
