Survey Specialist, Wikimedia Foundation
If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on it, I would use the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes. -- Albert Einstein

About me

A lifelong volunteer in community organizations, I have a strong admiration for the incredible contributions that volunteers make to society. In my work over the years, I have often wondered how various programs and organizations make changes in people's lives, which is what brought me to evaluation. I received my Masters in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, focusing on international development and evaluation. I am Peruvian-American and speak Spanish and can get by with Portuguese.

My work

My role at the Wikimedia Foundation is to support better systems of listening to each other through surveys. Thus, my work involves supporting a few ways to learn about surveys, including offering direct support to foundation staff, affiliates, or volunteers. I also manage the creation of content for a shared resource, the Survey Support Desk - a one-stop shop for anything related to surveys in the Wikimedia context, located at meta:Surveys. Finally, I also support strategy work related to gathering input. For any survey, I strongly believe in partnering with the community or communities you want to learn about, because in the end you will not only have a better a survey, you have a shared resource, created together, that can help take us together into the future.
