Manchester Airport and control tower, seen from the south side. This photograph was taken from a superb photography location (the “mound”) at the start of Runway 23L. The mounds are level grassy walkways that result from the runways being lower than the surrounding land (certainly on the south). These walkways produce superb viewpoints all along the southern fence (photographers need no steps).
