Hello.

I am Anthere. I only speak french and english. I hope someone will be able to translate this, and I apologise if I did not put it in the right place :-)

I would like that information circulate better between wikipedias, so that all wikipedians can participate more, and keep its own identity at the same time.

For this reason, I recently set a page on meta, m: Goings-on.

Hopefull, at any time, this page could indicate the current discussions, polls, votes or general announcements. 3 pages were already locally created on the spanish, the french and the english wikipedia. A global one is now on meta.

Each local page is about general on-goings as well as local ones.
Meta page aims at being about global occurences.

The page is different from the announcement page. The announcement is more oriented toward external communication (such as number of pages, special adverstisement), while the on-goings aim at mentionning community events (such as a new feature poll, elections of board of trustees).

To compare both pages :

• annoucement page on meta : http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_News (this is rather for general and external announcements)
• goings-on page : http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goings-on (this is for community announcement). This page is still under construction.

It would be great that each wikipedia in time, set a similar page, so that information could flow more easily between wikipedia. If you do so, please do set the goings-on page locally, so that every wikipedians on *your* wikipedia can see it and participate to it, and please link it to the meta page.

For bigger wikipedia, it is also interesting to set a goings-on page to relieve the local village pump, often clogged with information request.

For small wikipedias, it makes sense to merge the goings-on in the village pump, perhaps by making a separate paragraph.

Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.

You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.

I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be

I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.

Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.

Hello. I am from the English Wikipedia, and have recently run an investigation into American government edits on Wikinews. After this was completed, I began examining foreign edits to foreign Wikipedias, and noticed that an IP address belonging to the "Kuwait Ministry of Communations" had edited the article on al-Quaeda. I was wondering if someone could translate the paragraphs before being changed, and the paragraphs after being changed.

ِAl Qaeda was established in the year 1988 by Osama Bin Laden and the goal of establishing it was to resist the Soviet Invasion for Afganistan. Then Al Qaeda was developed from its "Service Bureau" which was like a center for registering and training people to resist the Soviet invasion. Al Qaeda was financially supported by Osama Bin Laden partially and by some Islamic countries inaddition to the support of the United states of America. There are beliefs that the supporters of Al Qaeda are counted by thousands of people spreaded all over the world map. In 1998 the Egyptian Islamic Network was merged with Al-Qaeda network by Ayman Al Thawahiri, thus becoming the man number 2 in this in Al-Qaeda.

- Al-Qaeda or in english "The Base" was named so because it is considered as the "Resistant Base" but the members of Al-Qaeda don't call themselves as Al-Qaeda members. The head military chief for Al-Qaeda was "Khaled Sheikh Mohammad" before he was captured by the pakistani's Government in the year 2003. "kahled Sheikh Mohammad" became the head military chief after the death of the ex head military chief "Mohammad Aatef" ,in the year 2001, by an American jet attack for Afganistan. Wikimania is the international conference of Wikimedia participants, held annually in a city chosen by Wikimedia contributors. The bid process for the 2007 Wikimania event has begun, and I've started a bid for Alexandria, Egypt.

Alexandria is a crossroads for the world with a legacy stretching back millennia. It has a heritage of cosmopolitan sophistication and multilingual diversity. The ancient Library of Alexandria was a centre of learning for the entire ancient world.

Today, the Biblioteca Alexandrina, the New Library of Alexandria, promises to be a new centre of learning for the Internet age. What better place to host Wikimedia, the project to share all knowledge with every human being, than at this library?

I've begun the bid process and started contacting conference organizers at the Biblioteca Alexandrina, but much more has to happen to make this take place. We need to have a local team in Alexandria to coordinate the event on the ground. Obviously, Arabic speakers, preferably Egyptians, who live in Alexandria would be the best help.

Anyone who'd like to participate in making Alexandria the home of the next Wikimania is welcome to help develop the bid. This can't happen without your help!

Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) and internationalisation (i18n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here on Wikipedia to use your language for your language profile, but if you would log in to for example the English language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here.

Assalamualaikum, may I know whether this article about Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is capable to be here, as it is only one sentence. The author, Emrrans wrote the article in Hebrew for the Hebrew Wikipedia, also one sentence, but got deleted just because it was too short. So I would like to know whether this Arabic Wikipedia allows such short article. Emrrans is unhappy with the Hebrew Wikipedia admin who deleted the article, saying that this Arabic Wikipedia didn't delete the article. I'm user:Martijn on the NL-wikipedia. We have an article on the Ahmadiyya-movement (see here) which has an image (commons: see here). The image is allegedly a "flag of the Ahmadiyya". I find this strange and would like to ask if someone would be able to tell me what the text on the "flag" says. Could you please post your anwser to my discussion page here? Thank you in advance,

Hi, I'm an wikipedian from Austria (de:Wien, =en:Vienna) who speaeks+writes fairly well EN, FR [and DE, of course], and understands on a very low level, committedly, IT and SP, and, besides, is not absolutely new to editing in WP. ;)

The reason why I checked-in here was that I sometimes found INTERWIKI links from en or de-Wikipages to AR pages, and that I sometimes might have pictures to offer which (imo) seem useful but unknown to other WP projects. Moreover, I feel quite some fascination about trying to communicate on a "platform" of a language I neither can speek nor read, but which is basically "within" wikipedia's possibilities.

So, my contributions here will for sure not exceed short notes on pics which are available on commons, which I might propose by putting a note on talk pages, sometimes.

• I might be contacted on my actual deWP talk page de:user talk:WeHaWoe, if required, in DE, EN, FR, or, even IT or SP (see above). I'd answer rather in FR or EN (or, DE, of course), please give a suggestion.

I'm new here, and I will probably not ever contribute anything but possibly useful links to COM, as my abilities on ar are=0.

I however suffer from a crosswiki-vandal who on May_27+28,_2008, spent hours on vandalizing some ~30 WPs by replacing some image by an almost porn, whilst using the nick which was mine on deWP, enWP and COM (mainly), for ~1_year, at that time. Repaired error on target: it was WeHaWoe who was vandalized May 27+28, 2008, on projects where that account did not yet exist. On arWP, I-myself had created the account WeHaWoe ~2 weeks earlier. What I ask for, is to delete the account ar:user:WeHaWoe, if ever possible. There seems to be an error with the interpretation of the second term of the template (e.g. "prefix=Wp" in {{Incubator|code=shi|prefix=Wp}} in the example of the Tashelhit language. I changed the template for the following form: {{Incubator|code=shi}}. If it cannot be fixed, it may be wise to change example at قالب:Incubator

I have absolutely no idea of the copyright issues that may pertain to the salvaged head of an Iraqi statue of Saddam Hussein. I know next to nothing about Iraqi copyright law. I've uploaded one of a set of images I took at the Fort Lewis Military Museum in Washington State, USA. No issue about photographing in the museum, they welcome cameras, and they put no restrictions on reuse of images. If this image is OK, then I have about half a dozen photos of the head. If not, we can delete. But I definitely need a more knowledgable opinion than my own.
