Ahmed Qasim Aljumaah.[عدل]

Ahmed Qasim Al-Juma (1938 AD) is an archaeologist from Mosul.

He was born in the city of Mosul in 1938, attended the katateeb, and completed his primary and preparatory studies there, while his  intermediate one in Hit. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Islamic antiquities in 1962 from the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad, and was appointed as a teacher in Mosul Education in the same year. He joined the scientific mission in 1967  to obtain a doctorate in antiquities from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, but the June setback and the severing of the full relations between it and Iraq as a result of it prevent it. In 1970, his services were transferred to the University of Mosul as a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Arts, then he was sent on a study leave to Egypt to obtain a master’s and doctoral degrees, where he obtained a master’s degree in Islamic antiquities in 1971 from the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University with a grade (excellence), along with a recommendation to print the thesis and exchange it with foreign  universities for his tagged message (Mihrabs of Mosul Mosques to the End of Atabeg Rule.[1]He obtained a doctorate in Islamic antiquities in 1975 with (first class honors) with a recommendation to print the dissertation and exchange it with foreign universities from the Faculty of Archeology at Cairo University for his thesis tagged (marble antiquities in Mosul during the Atabeg and Ilkhanid eras.[2]

It was the first dissertation from that faculty to receive the highest appreciation and the highest recommendation. And due to its innovative scientific importance and its four volumes, Dr. Abdel Latif Ibrahim, Chairman of the Discussion Committee, likened it to (the four pyramids in Egypt), while Dr. Hassan Al-Basha considered it to the four pillars of the world.

He was promoted to general teacher in 1975 after obtaining his doctorate, and to general assistant professor (1983 in), and obtained a professorship later on in 1989.[3]

  • The Originality of Planning Architectural Structures among the Arabs, House of Wisdom, 1990
  • The role of Basra in the Arab scientific heritage (symposium) jointly, House of Wisdom 1990[4]

He also published (62) scientific papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals inside and outside the country and in the proceedings of scientific conferences and symposiums.[5]
