لمعانٍ أخرى، طالع هيروديون (توضيح).الهيروديون هم طائفة من اليهود الهلنستيين، ذُكروا في العهد الجديد في مناسبتين: الأولى في الجليل، وبعد ذلك في القدس كونهم معاديين ليسوع. يقترن اسمهم دائمًا باسم الفريسيين.[1]
وفقا لكثير من المترجمين، فهم جنود هيرودس أنتيباس، ويعتقد آخرون بأن الهيروديين ربما كانوا حزبًا سياسيًا عامًا، ميزوا أنفسهم عن الحزبين التاريخيين العظيمين في اليهودية ما بعد السبي البابلي: الفريسيين والصدوقيين، ويتميزون بأنهم مخلصين لهيرودس الكبير.[2] على عكس الفريسيين الذين سعوا لاستعادة مملكة داود، كان الهيروديون يرغبون في استعادة السلالة الهيرودية إلى عرش يهودا.[3] حتى أنهم اعتبروا هيرودس نفسه المسيح.
يجادل روبرت أيزنمان بأن بولس الرسول كان عضوًا في عائلة هيرودس الكبير.[4][5]

In Mark 8:15, Jesus recognised that the alliance of Pharisees and Herod (i.e. the Herodians) was a source of danger to him. In Mark 12:13ff, the Pharisees and Herodians together, having sent a delegation to investigate and challenge what Jesus was teaching in the Temple in Jerusalem, jointly flattered Jesus for his honesty and impartiality, then questioned him politically in relation to his attitude to paying Roman taxes. Jesus did appear (from Mark 12:17 and Matthew 22:22) to have impressed the Herodians with his reply: "... they marveled (εθαυμασαν, ethaumasan) at Him".
